JOHANE TELGENER, NEW HAMPSHIRE HUNGER SOLUTIONS
Children can help children get through food insecurity. It is a tough and painful subject, and that's why I wrote 'Lulu' the first book in the series. I wanted to build understanding and empathy and a desire to get involved and solve the problem. My presentations offer affirmation of their value as people to young people struggling with hunger and a compassionate and empowering pathway to getting help. To those around them who may not realize, I offer a way to help that avoids doing more damage. Each of us has a part to play. Together, we can beat the hunger monster!
My presentations are fun, funny and tailored (ideally) for groups 7-10 years old. I have presented to over 800 students in six cities and towns in a two day period, so I can handle the type of volume that makes a school visit cost effective.
Sometimes, the book on healthy eating (Jessie) or the book on growing your own food (Frankie) are the best way into the subject of food security for young people. The notion of food insecurity (Lulu) can then be introduced into the discussion
Signed copies of the book arevailable direct from the author at volume discounts.
A video I sometimes show in presentations that features my daughter, a tireless anti-hunger advocate.
I don't have to stand on a red spot to present...
